💪Crunch time💪 This week I have a group assignment due for the Service Innovation and Citizenship subject. I have done most of my work so I'm not stressed. This is the last lap and I feel confident my group will deliver on time with work that speaks to the brief appropriately. The big parts of the assignment were handled in the block week where our group brainstormed and mapped out the body of work we were to do. I must say I am utterly impressed by how we managed to do this assignment as all my group members work full time. Their sheer dedication to this assignment was remarkable and everyone played an essential role in putting this body of work together in such a quick manner. Our assignment was halted and then was picked up again once we received confirmation to continue from ethics department at CPUT. I enjoyed every minute of this assignment and I hope I get to work with these sterling professionals (Louw, Elaine and Eli) again. This is a screen shot of the infograph animatio...

Thanks for the reminder💫 Today I was listening to a podcast titled 'Diary of a CEO' and the guest speaker Chris Williamson mentioned not to forget to do the weekly blog post and so here I am. I also started reading a book, provided by our lecturer Dr. Nike Romano, called '  Design, When Everybody Designs An Introduction to Design for Social Innovation'. It blew my mind as it covers ideas and concepts that I have never thought of before. It also dives deep into the possibilities of social interaction and how members of society can actively engage with each other with the go...

Gratitude (Blending the disciplines) While I was writing my Article review I found that I had more than a few interests in design research.  These are Design Thinking, Social Innovation and Citizenship and Design Management . I have a deep admiration for these fields of interest in how they can unlock, reframe and change society in a way that is more inclusive and sustainable. In South Africa we have a long history of servitude to monarchies of bygone eras who have used the South of Africa as an experimental railway for plotting the course of their destruction and in the process left societal structures that up until this day do not fully integrate, acknowledge and celebrate the the indigenous and enslaved peoples of this land or their contributions. Today the situation it seems is better as we do not have outright slavery and we are all free to vote, get an education and make an honest living of our choice. However there are still many problems and challenges in our backyard. I...
