Experiment
Today was fun! I feel mad energy and feelings of hope! Here are a few shots of today's experiment...
Collaboration is key in co-design circles. Me and my classmates were making collages planning and disrupting. The situation is critical. Caution: new knowledge on the horizon. Where you at?
...I felt excited that I was in a space with people actively engaging in discovering and creating artefacts. The atmosphere was conducive to experimentation and hopeful fortitude. At first we guessed what the task could be and then we were thrown into a dance between the known and the unknown. I rarely venture into public spaces with intentions of creating dialogue without a specific goal in sight. Not knowing what I was doing this project for and how the group would evolve together was a new and somewhat majestic experience.
Colours on paper, tearing, cutting, shredding, glueing and pasting..., the feverish movement of hands, eyes and feet slowly forming a pattern. New knowledge was being made right in front of me and was not a bystander. Full participation from all students was required. Agendas were apparent and pretty pictures were disrupted. All the while telling myself this is for the greater good. Magazines and cardboard became symbols of communication. Destruction and Unity.
I found the signage system at CPUT interesting. The bold nature of numbers steering us into our different fields of interest. If you turn the number '3' 90 degrees counter clockwise you see a stylised pair of eyes. I found this symbolic in that you must open your eyes and look at your world and see it for what it is and what it can be.
